JoseLo Gutierrez, M.Ac, L.Ac, MT Acupuncturist
Since 1998, JoseLo Gutierrez, has been utilizing Oriental medicine to care for clients. Throughout the years he has incorporated different techniques into his practice in a variety of settings to include Holistic Clinics, Massage schools, Gyms & Health clubs, Medical SPAs, and Embassies.
His background in Psychology and Physical Therapy serves to bridge Eastern and Western approaches to one's dynamic self.
JoseLo graduated from the Swedish Institute School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in NYC, where he studied Classical Acupuncture under the tutelage of Jeffrey Yuen, a world-renowned Taoist priest and Doctor of the Jade Purity Tradition. Classical Acupuncture is an ancient health care tradition, which sees healing as encompassing physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual realignment.
He studied massage therapy at AKS Massage School in Northern VA, where he later worked as a guest teacher. He was also trained in Thai massage at the Kata Institute in Phuket, Thailand, and apprenticed with Chinese doctors in Taiwan, Colombia and Ecuador learning different Oriental manual medicine therapies, Tai Chi Chuan and acupuncture.
JoseLo combines his knowledge of acupuncture and manual therapies such as Cupping, Guasha, Moxibustion, Swedish massage, Shiatsu, Tuina, Acupressure, and Thai massage techniques to best suit the needs of his clients.
His work as a therapist stems from an understanding of the natural capacity of the human body to heal itself, and his style reflects an appreciation of the balancing properties of these ancient medical practices.
He enjoys practicing Tai Chi Chuan, Chi Kong, and Yoga, traveling, hiking, camping with his family and playing with his 3 kids. Originally from Colombia, and a lover of languages, JoseLo is fluent in Spanish and enjoys practicing Italian, Portuguese, French and Mandarin.
